Welcome Back Playlist

THAT time of year has arrived and everyone might not be looking forward to the wind, cold, rain, slush, and ultimately, the darkness. Not to mention we are back in school. I can’t speak for everyone else but I was dreading the start of school again, but what's second best to having those summer vibes all year round, is being able to emulate those feelings in the one thing humans love, music!

Understanding the fact that music taste is subjective, I know the songs I put on this playlist will not be for everybody's taste. These songs are mood boosters, serotonin feeders and lyrically genius. I hope those who listen can enjoy and have a nice time connecting to the lyrics and vibrations. Below are a few of my favourites out of the 25 songs, as of now.

SONG 1:

“Till The End” by Logic

“Till The End”, the last song on his Album Under pressure, is a hip-hop/rap song including different and unique vocals and layers of instruments. An overall feel-good song that is also a classical head bop. A great way to start off the playlist, with high vibes. Logic also plays with the ending of the song tricking a new listener into thinking it’s over, but jumps straight back into it after a pause as well as the classical ending to the song provided by violins and a robotic voice which ends the song, until played again.

SONG 7:

“Loose Change” by Brent Faiyaz

We all know that the intro to this song is literally the definition of angelic, being levitated to some unearthly plain and feeling that melody run down your back. This song comes from this year's album drop, being advertised on every platform, it lived up to the anticipation. The mood of this song matches perfectly with the seasonal changes that are currently taking place, with hints of darkness and sadness, but a hearty, clear and passionate voice.

SONG 12:

“Naive” by The Kooks

To bring us a bit of nostalgia, included in the playlist is “Naive” by The Kooks. This song, an accurate example of 2012 alternative indie, featured in the movie 17 Again, is such an uplifting song. Although the song lyrics lean more to a sadder mood, the drums, guitars and singing is addicting and reminiscent however.

SONG 21:

“Rapp Snitch Knishes” by MF DOOM ft. Mr Fantastic

There is nothing more relaxing, for me at least, than walking to school and listening to old school hip hop/rap. The lyrical genius in this song, one that seems to be fleeting in today's world, and the melodic flow is just simply amazing. In my opinion, I think it is one of the best sampled songs I've ever listened to. Coming from “Space Oddity” by David Matthews, that guitar lick from 1.59 to 2.21 was practically asking to be sampled and MF DOOM did justice to it.

Existentialist Literature

My thought is me: that's why I can't stop. I exist because I think… and I can't stop myself from thinking. At this very moment - it's...
