In at least one point of your life, you have been confronted by the fact that you have no notion of the definition of the word “Trust”. The word seems to be an elusive mystery of the cosmos, a question that is not meant to have an answer like, “why do people fall in love”, “what is the purpose of my life” and the classic yet funny “why is everyone around me so stupid”.
However, while the fact of credibility might be debatable, the simple meaning of the word trust depends on one of many principles, among many the primary one being the ability to understand and “navigate” the other party while showing one’s vulnerable side without being afraid of the consequences, since you cannot trust somebody if you fear the result of the action. Although this does not mean that one cannot trust in others' fears, since if others fear the consequences of a certain action, you can trust that they will not do it.
In layman's terms trust is a result of calculated promises and the understanding of another’s abilities and desires. Anybody that claims that trust is something else clearly has the misguided belief that vain hopes and aspirations with a great deal of freak coincidences are the result of “trust”, while anybody with some functioning cogitative ability will be able to tell that the former is purely sheer dumb luck.
At the end of the day, “trust” is all about how deep your understanding of a person is. The problem with trust is that it is one of the most fragile things after feelings. Once someone loses the trust that someone gave them, they will not be able to find it easily again since the fact that one lost it means that the other person did not understand the other person well enough. This will lead to the first party doubting all previous understanding gained about the person which will make it a lot harder to calculate a new promise. Hence trust is a thing that should be treasured against all odds since it is the bond between individuals. One might even go as far as claiming that one’s trust is the currency of one’s existence since if nobody trusts a person it signifies that that person is beyond doubt totally incomprehensible, which means that they are an existence which will be judged as if non-existent by our minds since humans fear what they do not understand.
Trust is valuable, however at the end of the day it is up to the individual that carries this trust to decide whether they want to squander this form of currency or keep it and use it to further one’s agenda. Careful of whom you trust…
