Five Romance Books to Read for Valentine’s Day

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

Even though most of you probably already crossed paths with this book, it is so iconic it has to be mentioned nevertheless. Although it is not defined for its romance, it is beautifully delivered and should definitely be brought up. It tells a story of Achilles and Patroclus, from Greek mythology, who are brought together by chance. Despite the gods, they slowly form a close bond that experiences the ultimate test as the Greeks are to lay siege upon Troy. Be warned, it is exceptionally painful and utterly devastating but so worth it.

From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata

Need a new comfort book? From Lukov with Love is an adorable slow-burn romance between two ice skaters where we follow Jasmine as she gets a last chance to return to competitive ice skating. This is a sports “enemies to friends to lovers” filled with cuteness. A perfect read in this cold weather since their charming relationship brings so much warmth.

Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

Set in a summer lake house is a “second chance” love story where the perspectives of past versus present fight to explain why Persephone and Sam broke up in the first place. Sam’s mom passes away leading to Persephone’s return years after they last met and we get to follow along as they fall in love over the summers all those years ago, and now all over again as adults.

Indigo Ridge by Devney Perry

Winslow moves and becomes chief of the police in a small town. We follow her along as she falls in love at the same time as a murder investigation takes place because there was a murder on the property of the man she previously had a one night stand with. Awkward tension arises between them as there is a forced proximity when they collaborate to solve the case.

Afterlove by Tanya Byrne

Afterlove begins with Ash and Poppy’s story as they fall in love. However, this is soon brought to an end when Ash dies in a hit and run accident. She happens to be the last one to die that year though and therefore becomes a grim reaper. The book follows her struggle with her new job while she’s still in love with her new mortal girlfriend. If you enjoyed They Both Die at the End you will absolutely love this.
